Akal Takht Jathedar condemns move for separate SGPC for Haryana

AMRITSAR: Jatehdar Akal Takht (highest Sikh Temporal seat) Gyani Gurbachan Singh condemned the Haryana Government for its proposal to set up separate Sikh Gurdwara Pharbandhak Committee to manage the Haryana based Gurdwaras.
In a hurriedly called press conference in the evening Akal Takht Jathedar said that separate HSGPC (Haryana based Sikh Gurdwara Pharbandhak Committee) was an attempt to divide Sikh community that would never be tolerated by the Sikh community.
Talking about the Vienna incident he said that SGPC should send its high level committee to probe the incident to bring out the truth as what were the reasons behind the attack on preachers.
Radical Sikh group Dal Khalsa has also demanded the Akal Takht and Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) should send a joint fact-finding team to Vienna to probe the May shoot-out at a gurdwara there.
The Dal Khalsa has also submitted a memorandum to the Akal Takht jathedar and urged him to lend a legal support for the suspects of the Vienna incident.
Widespread violence erupted in Punjab following a bloody clash in the Vienna gurdwara May 24, where the top two leaders of the Dera Sach Khand sect, who are followers of Guru Ravidass and belong to the Dalit Sikh community, were attacked with knives and firearms.
While the sect head Niranjan Dass was injured seriously in the attack, his second in command, Sant Rama Nand Dass, died from gunshot wounds.
Meanwhile, the main entrance door (darshani deori) 0f Golden Temple (Harmandhar Sahib) would be given face lift due to its dilapidated conditions, informed jatehdar.
